Below is a list of proposed IT Projects that are currently in the PAL review and approval process with the California Department of Technology (CDT). For purposes of this list “PAL Stage” refers to the last document officially submitted to CDT.
Projects are removed from this list when they exit the PAL process because: 1) the Agency/state entity receives CDT’s approval to begin project implementation; 2) CDT approves a Project Delegation Request; 3) the Agency/state entity withdraws the project; or 4) the CDT denies the project approval.
The CDE administers over two hundred grant programs that provide state and federal funding to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and other entities for various educational purposes. These grant programs have different eligibility criteria, application processes, reporting requirements, and performance measures. Currently, CDE program offices use email attachments and spreadsheets to administer grant programs, leading to inefficiencies and an increase of potential errors. This manual approach creates challenges for both CDE staff and grant recipients, such as: • Lack of visibility into the status of grant applications and award • Difficulty in tracking and verifying grant expenditures and outcomes • Inconsistent and redundant data collection and reporting • Increased risk of errors, fraud, and audit findings • Limited ability to analyze and evaluate grant performance and impact To address the challenges of administering grant programs using outdated and manual methods, several CDE program offices are piloting the use of a cloud-based, software-as-a-service enterprise EGMS. The EGMS is a comprehensive solution that streamlines and automates the entire grant lifecycle, from application to award to closeout.
